On June 21, we're hosting the The Great Nosh, an epic picnic on Governors Island complete with dishes like pastrami tacos and a black and white sundae from some of the hottest chefs in New York — and a tent where grandmothers (and others) shared their family’s culinary secrets.
Filmmaker Dana Schneider and her mother will show us how to roll out the Yemenite Shabbat bread jachnun, while content creator Arielle Nir Mamiye and her mother teach us about flaky Moroccan chicken pastilla.
Jeremy Salamon and his partner, Michael Herman, are making thing Hungarian crepes called palacsinta and Jessica Quinn and her wife, Trina Quinn will share the secrets to pillowy and peppery cabbage piroshki.
You can also find recipes from last year's Grandmas Tent, including ones for challah, hand-rolled couscous, and more.
We hope you will try these recipes in your own home.
