Patchwork, or t’laim in Hebrew, is a fitting word for a cookbook coming out next year in collaboration with Be’chol Lashon. The collection of recipes and stories comes from 62 Jews of diverse backgrounds including Peruvian, Indian, Jamaican, Iraqi, Vietnamese, African American, and Japanese. “The idea is that each individual is a collection of many different mini-identities and so is the Jewish community as a whole,” explains Alana Satsuki Chandler, who started the grassroots project.
The book is a culmination of years of work and was produced with the help of numerous volunteers. The team generously shared a handful of the recipes with the Jewish Food Society over the past year, which you can explore below.
