Recipes from The Great Nosh’s Grandmas Tent

On June 22, we hosted The Great Nosh, an epic picnic on Governors Island complete with one of a kind chef collaborations, games with Old Jewish Men, a dance party with Mark Ronson — and a tent where grandmothers (and others) shared their family’s culinary secrets.
Cookbook author Bonnie Stern and her daughter Anna taught us how to braid challah, while Sasha Shor and her mother Marina gave us a pickling lesson. Former JFS culinary manager Arielle Nir Mamiye and her sister Danielle imparted wisdom about Persian eggplant tachin and New York Shuk founders Ron and Leetal Arazi demonstrated the art of hand-rolling couscous with their daughter Lily. Finally, for something sweet, Larry Finkelstein and his cousin Lauren Goldstein instructed us in the rules of rugelach.
You can find all of their recipes here — plus others they have shared with us over the years.
